Free and Reduced

Children need healthy meals to learn. Gretna Public Schools offers healthy meals every school day. Lunch costs $2.85 for elementary, $3.00 for middle school, and $3.25 for high school. Your children may qualify for free or reduced-priced meals. The reduced price is $ .40 for lunch. If your child(ren) qualified for free or reduced-price meals at the end of last school year, you must submit a new application by September 25, 2020, to avoid an interruption in meal benefits.

To qualify as a meal there needs to be a minimum of 1/2 cup of a fruit or vegetable and 2 other full portion items. A full meal includes 5 lunch items; fruit, vegetables, whole grains, meat (or an alternative like egg, yogurt, cheese), and milk. To learn more about what makes a meal CLICK HERE. Please note lunch accounts are still charged for any items that are outside of a school meal, for example, a main dish with no fruit or vegetable, extra servings, extra milk, and a la carte items.

Parents can set account spending limits and turn off the ability to purchase a la carte items. CLICK HERE for directions.
